She cries. I breathe deeply.

“Gloria, I can’t connect the dots. It doesn’t come together for me.”

I listen deeply, soulfully. I feel her anguish, her yearning to get to the root of her ache, an ache that’s lasted throughout her life.

She tells me her story. It’s real. It happened. And it continues to happen.

Whenever she wants to create something that’s important to her, regardless of what she does, it doesn’t come together. Her dots don’t connect.

Ever feel as if, no matter how hard you try, you just can’t connect the dots of your life?

You want something (love, business success, health, you name it) and maybe you’ve wanted it for a long time, but it always feels as if it’s outside your reach. And for the life of you, you can’t figure out why you’re not getting it, or how to get it.

You Can Connect Your Dots – It’s All about Your Story

I ask my client to tell me a time, one that really sticks out, that the dots didn’t connect. As she reflects sadly I feel her energy plummet. Although I understand that – the dots not connecting – happened quite early in her life, I sense that this is the story that stings with pain. So to take the sting out (begin connecting the dots) her story needs to change to reflect her heart’s yearning. (A story that will open the way for her to connect the dots)

If you want to connect your dots – change your story

  • Go back to where your ache began or go back to a memory that comes up when you think about it. (Whatever it is that is beyond your reach.)
  • Think about what you wanted to happen. (Your ideal situation)
  • Create a clear, simple scenario of your ideal situation.
  • Breathe it in deeply. Repeat daily. Meditate on it.
  • Allow yourself to fully embrace your new story.

Live your new story until it becomes more real than your old story.

When your new story replaces your old one…your dots can connect.

Remember connect-the-dots pictures? As a child I loved them. I felt like an artist when I connected all those dots. I would gleam with pride. I did it! I created a picture!

You too can create a connect-the-dots picture. And you too can gleam with pride…I did it! I created a picture!

Over to you: I would love to hear from you in the comment section. Have you ever tried replacing an old story with a new one? What happens when you allow yourself to live a new story?

Thanks for being here with me.

I appreciate you giving me space in your heart.

In loving gratitude,

Gloria
